April 4 - Friday April 4, 2008: The L2 Gallery at Seaside presents The First Friday ArtWalk at Seaside introducing “Art You Can Wear” featuring nationally acclaimed belt buckle artist Paul Pearman, pearl jewelry artist Wendy Mignot and leather artist Jimmi wZ in person for a public reception

Seaside, FL – March 15, 2008 – Art comes in many forms and has many interpretations. While some prefer to hang it on their walls, others want to wear it on themselves. April’s First Friday ArtWalk at Seaside will showcase some of the best in wearable art and show those in doubt that art comes in many forms that must be touched and worn to be appreciated.

The L2 Gallery at Seaside plays host to April’s First Friday ArtWalk on April 4 from 5-8 pm serving up music in Ruskin Park and hosting three highly accomplished “wearable art” masters. Models will stroll amidst the galleries wearing the latest fashions from FABS of Seaside while showing off works of the featured artists. The public is invited to visit the various galleries as they will each feature new works and artists for the evening.

The L2 Gallery introduces the innovative works of nationally recognized belt buckle artist Paul Pearman. With recent write ups in InStyle magazine and Southern Living, Paul’s work is finding its way onto the hips of Hollywood. Pearman’s creative ingenuity combines spectacular gems with stained glass in a form that art lovers aren’t limited to hanging on their walls.

Each piece is created by hand one at a time using micro sized pieces of glass, shell, fossils, precious and semi precious stones. Whether mounted for display or worn as an everyday accessory, these buckles stand alone in their artistic design and collector allure. They can be found on the hips of everyone – from cowboys and cooks to Keith Richards and Keith Urban.

Also featured by The L2 Gallery is the pearl artistry of Wendy Mignot. Arriving on the scene a few short years ago, Mignot introduced the Gulf Coast to the romance and art of combining pearl and leather to create unique designs that were soon imitated but never replicated. Having learned to marry fine pearls with the rugged yet finely hand stretched leather from a long line of family artisans, Mignot’s passion has driven her work to evolve to a level of sophistication that has created a strong demand for her unique designs. She has given birth to an entire genre of exquisite works of art that can be worn as comfortably at the beach as at the opera. Mignot’s work has not only become a signature within the beach community but has become desired personal art from coast to coast.

Jimmi wZ is an artist in many senses. A professional musician on both the New York and Nashville scenes, Jimmi’s talents lie not only as a recording artist but also as a painter, instrument maker and leather artist. Inspiration for much of his work comes from experiences in Indian, Native American and South American cultures. Jimmi has taken on leather to create a form of art that allows creative expression much like his music. Showcasing his extraordinary leather bags and accessories, one can see that his bags make a bold statement. These bags can be found adorning many shoulders both on the music scene and on the Emerald Coast. Jimmi’s newest collection will offer one of a kind bags that feature semi precious stones and unique closures that make each piece engagingly fresh and distinctively Jimmi wZ. Featured this month only at The L2 Gallery.

The L2 Gallery at Seaside invites you to view the ART YOU CAN WEAR SHOW and meet all three featured artists Friday April 4th in the gallery from 5-8pm. Many of the pieces will be showcased for a limited engagement.

ARTIST RECEPTION:
Paul Pearman, Wendy Mignot and Jimmi wZ will be on hand to elaborate on their work Friday April 4th from 5 – 8pm.
The public is invited to the Artist Reception. The show is hosted by gallery owners Jeff & Tracy Lewis. Music, wine, nibbles and art provided.

The L2 Gallery is located in Seaside on Highway 30-A, half way between Destin and Panama City Beach at 123 Quincy Circle in the Ruskin Artist Colony. For questions or directions, please call the gallery at 850.231.1091 or Tracy at 850.376.4400.
