July 1 - August 30 - The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center announces the coming arrival of its second summer exhibit, "Florida's Lost Tribes." The exhibition showcases the compelling artwork of Theodore Morris, portrait creator of Florida's ancient vanished people. His award-winning work and self-authored book is based on research with renowned archaeologists across the state. Members of Sinfonia join forces with Playground Swing Band and a local dance troupe to present an evening of swing, jazz and 1940’s tunes. August 18 - A swinging salute to legendary jazz musicians Herbie Mann and Horace Silver is the GJS August jazz event at the Black Angus Restaurant and Banquet hall. The concert will feature the classic jazz sounds of pianist Horace Silver including signature tunes such as "Song For My Father," "Sister Sadie," "Nica's Dream" and more.
The two-hour program will also include the funky jazz hits from flutist Herbie Mann including hits such as "Memphis Underground," "Swinging Shepherd Blues," "Comin' Home Baby," and more!

August 23 - The GFWC Gulf Coast Woman’s Club will be hosting a fundraiser on August 23, 2008. It is entitled “Sharing Hope” Fashion Show and Brunch. Coldwater Creek Fashions of Pier Park will produce the show. The fundraiser will be a benefit for the Heifer International Foundation. The location is Grace Presbyterian Church at 1415 Airport road in Panama City.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m., brunch begins at 9:45 a.m. and fashion show at 10:15 a.m. Tickets are $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. August 29 - Tapestry Park Cinema - Tapestry Park will host a free movie night once a month. Each month, a well known film will be shown on a giant 16-foot screen in Savannah Park. Tapestry Park Cinema will also be offering a cash-only concession stand. The films that have been chosen for this first series are geared towards the entire family. Each of the screenings will begin at sundown, around 8:00 p.m.; however, guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot on the lawn.
